February 2008: Our desks to your door . . . As part of our studies at the Anniston Star, we followed the publishing process. What happens after we send our articles and photos to the editor? How do the words on the computer screen get transferred to print on paper and then delivered to the reader? It made for a couple of long nights, but we were dedicated students.  Plus waffles were involved.   :-)

October 2007: Of Shoes and Ships and Sealing Wax -- My first video ever! Read more about it in the original post. Want to see some other takes on the same material? Click here.

September 2007: Knights on Yet Another Quest -- This time to Birmingham and AL.com -- plus lunch with Bill Kovach and Rick Bragg. Dinner with friends, photog lessons, and Fall arrives.

August & September 2007: HodgePodge -- Introducing our professors and benefactors; Grilling and steak-outs at the Star; playing tourist at Talladega; estate sale with Emily; Field trip to UA and the Tuscaloosa News

August 2007: Knight Fellows--The Adventure Begins! We came from all parts of the country, from various backgrounds, but with a common love of reporting the news. For the next year, we would share cubicle space between the copy editors' desks and the sports department. We lived in apartments scattered around Anniston, and we explored Calhoun County as residents and as journalists.

August 2007: Orientation for the Knight Fellows was a two-parter. Part One involved a bus ride around Calhoun County with commentary by columnist and former editor George Smith, a BBQ dinner set up in the foyer at the Star, and a mini-tour of the production line. Part Two took place somewhat later in Tuscaloosa on the University of Alabama campus when we become "official" UA students.
